Intonations and Toccatas (Kalmus Edition) [Spiral-bound] Review

Sebastian Anton Scherer was an organist in Ulm as the War of Thirty Years came to an end. His collection of smaller and greater organ pieces is heavily influenced by the recent Italian organ style. The toccatas are written in a broad and solemn style close to out-written improvisation. The canzonas are quite different in style: to me, they are small treasures of melodical invention and intellectual playfullness. Scherer is a nice friendship for mass and for evensong - but a lot of his qualities are concealed in the execution and the registration, left to the discretion of the organist. Bluegrass Complete (Creative Concepts Publishing) [Paperback] Review

OK. So bluegrass, being portable, doesn't include the piano.Still, I play guitar with my Mother, who plays piano.It is great to be able to play some of my favorite music with her.And the song selection is good.

The negative is that the arrangements aren't very "bluegrassy."Often sounds like we're playing show tunes...maybe it is just because of the piano.

I'd recommend it to folks who would like to introdude some bluegrass to piano players...

I love this book.I started practicing piano three months ago beginning with my children's beginner books.So I don't know very much.The solos in this book get you using a lot of the keyboard so your hands are not just sitting in one place.And the songs sound much harder than they are.So they are good for impressing people and for impressing yourself.All the songs I have worked on so far are beautiful sounding.I will be buying more books by this author!

Suite Bergamasque, Complete (Kalmus Edition) [Paperback] Review

This sheet music is exactly what it should be.I bought it for a friend who is practicing Claire de Lune and asked him if he had the suite.He said he did not so I got this for him since the price was too good to resist rather than make copies of my music.I'm so pleased that Amazon offers such good deals.
