New Orleans Piano Legends (Piano Solo Songbook) [Paperback] Review

Playing piano like a "New Orleans Professor" is easy if you are Professor Longhair, James Booker, Tuts, Dr. John, etc..This book is for the rest of us wantabees.Of course you need to be able to read music - maybe not.I really can't read music - but I can play piano - so hears what I did - I found someone who 'can' read music - they showed me the notes - now I am playing. If it worked for me like this - hey five stars. The songs in the book are a good mix and you can find recordings of the tunes all over the net - if you are not keen on the songs.

Professor Longhair Collection (Piano Solo Personality) [Paperback] Review

Being a piano player myself, I know how hard it is to find someone to teach you New Orleans Style piano.(If you've ever had someone give you the 'that's not Chopin' look, then you know what I mean.)This book willhelp you nail down all the patterns and licks you can hear in the music, but can't quite get to your fingers yet.I found it to be really helpfulnot only to learn specific Professor Longhair songs, but also to learnbasic New Orleans/Boogie & Blues piano riffs and styles suitable foraccompanying singers or other players. This book will take you miles andmiles into the world that is Professor Longhair.Definitely recommended!
