The Dreame and Weep You No More Sad Fountains (from Sense and Sensibility) (Piano/Vocal/Guitar Songbook) [Paperback] Review

The Dreame and Weep You No More Sad Fountains [Paperback]I recently bought (and reviewed) Jane Austen's World which had some of the piano music for this film and three others. The Dreame was included there, and it sounded good. This transcription, is much, much better although it's not much more difficult. In fact, it may be a bit easier because it sounds so much fuller and it'smore interesting and enjoyable to play.

Weep You No More Sad Fountains is also arranged beautifully.I believe that this particular piece is not in print elsewhere, so this is the only version available.

I do not sing while playing. However, I do not agree with these other reviewers who state that the vocals are arranged too high.True, in Weep You No More Sad Fountains, there is one high B flat that can be difficult to reach, but the lowest note is the D right above Middle C.There is a wide vocal range in this song, but to get the high notes lower, one would have to lower the lower notes.Maybe the aspiring vocalist can sing the very few high notes in a harmonious lower note!

The Dreame has a couple of high F sharps, but most of the song is also much lower. The lowest note here is a Middle C.

The pieces here are for advanced beginners to advanced intermediate players.

Aladdin (Piano/Vocal/Guitar Songbook) [Paperback] Review

Aladdin [Paperback]I know 7 songs might not seem like a lot, but these songs are all great and pretty good length. Disney is known for its magical songs that put you in a trance. Disney songs are known mainly to target kids, but also are so creative and musical that adults can't help but admire the beautiful works of the Disney classics. Aladdin was one of my favorite childhood movies, and the 90s was the best years for animated Disney movies hands down, and the music in these movies made them more even more memorable. Aladdin songs have an Arabian vibe to them, making them unique sounding. Friend Like Me is an up beat and cheerful song sung by Genie, prince Ali is more of a traditional sounding Arabian song with sort of a Disney vibe to it, and the most famous in this book, A Whole New World, is a slow duet between Jasmine and Aladdin. I think buying this book at full price new is a rip though, you're only getting 7 songs for $15, so if you can find this book for $5 or less, then buy it.

From PERSUASION by Jeremy Sams
Theme
Tristesse
Italian Aria

I purchased this book without really knowing which music was included, but I definitely wanted the Sense & Sensibility pieces.I really enjoy all of them, especially the pieces from Persuasion.Funny, but that soundtrack never stood out to me when I watched this film. I really wouldn't have thought those pieces would be my favorite. Italian Aria, though, is gorgeous and, though simple, even my 11 year old son came over to the piano when I was playing and exclaimed how pretty the music was!The pieces range from cheerful and upbeat to haunting and sad.Additionally, some sound as if they were written during the baroque period, and some sound as if they were written during the Romantic period. A real variety of music is presented here.

I am thoroughly enjoying this book. The transcriptions are really for beginners to intermediate level players. The easier pieces, though, are not "EASY PIANO". It's just easier because the tempo is simple and there are only a couple of sharps or flats at one time. There is nothing too difficult here, but they still sound wonderful.
