Disney Songs - Piano Duet Play-Along Songbook Volume 6 - Book and CD Package Review

I picked this book up and brought it home from a trip to Disneyland.The arrangements are put together very nicely and range from beginner to advanced beginner.The CD is nice to use when you are by yourself, but my family has a lot of fun figuring the pieces out together.It is the most used duet book we own.

The Disney Theme Park Songbook: Remember the Magic (Piano/Vocal/Guitar Songbook) [Paperback] Review

Maybe this songbook will rejog those fond memories of Disney's Themeparks.I bought this primarily for Fantasmic (remember, this is piano music), and was impressed with the notation.These songs are intermediate in skill level, but you also get accurate and lively transcriptions as a trade off for difficulty.Though the songs were faithfully transcribed, the cheese factor is strong - limburger strong in some instances.By this I mean today's Disney is trying to tug on those heart strings with some cliche musical phrases and over-the-top lyrics.Here's a sample of the lyrics for "Just One Dream": "So many miracles are happening around us", "Like the Promise of the Sun we're born to shine", "We are the wings and we can fly into forever".OK you get my drift.

Enchanted (Pvg) [Paperback] Review

The music for Enchanted is as fun to play as it is fun to hear. The arrangements are pretty standard and adequate enough for those in various levels. I was hoping for more variation in the arrangement for "That's How You Know" because of how each verse (as heard on the soundtrack) has a different sound and instrumentation to them. But instead we get bars and bars of the same notes, which I guess is easier to memorize. And the "True Love's Kiss" arrangement is shortened by excluding the fanfare beginning and starts with "When you meet the someone", and also excludes the Prince Edward (James Marsden) part of the song as heard on the soundtrack. These gripes are minor and could be solved with a trained ear. Other than that this book is a must-have for Disney and musical fans alike.

Jim Brickman's "The Disney Songbook " for the piano is awesome. The songbook doesn't look over whelming to play. The song book consists of "Beauty & the Beast", "Mary Poppins Medley", "Cruella De Vil", "Beautiful", "Reflection", "When I see an Elephant Fly", "Zip-a-Dee-Doo-Dah," "Baby Mine", "Can you feel the Love Tonight", "A Dream is a Wish Your Heart Makes:, "Some Day My Prince Will Come", "I'm Amazed", "When you Wish Upon A Star" plus bonus songs of "Bare Necessities" and "Colors of the Wind". Jim has done a great job so that piano players will be able to handle the songs. These songs bring back so many memories to everyone, it is a must to have if you play the piano.

Aladdin (Piano/Vocal/Guitar Songbook) [Paperback] Review

I know 7 songs might not seem like a lot, but these songs are all great and pretty good length. Disney is known for its magical songs that put you in a trance. Disney songs are known mainly to target kids, but also are so creative and musical that adults can't help but admire the beautiful works of the Disney classics. Aladdin was one of my favorite childhood movies, and the 90s was the best years for animated Disney movies hands down, and the music in these movies made them more even more memorable. Aladdin songs have an Arabian vibe to them, making them unique sounding. Friend Like Me is an up beat and cheerful song sung by Genie, prince Ali is more of a traditional sounding Arabian song with sort of a Disney vibe to it, and the most famous in this book, A Whole New World, is a slow duet between Jasmine and Aladdin. I think buying this book at full price new is a rip though, you're only getting 7 songs for $15, so if you can find this book for $5 or less, then buy it.

Newsies (Piano/Vocal/Guitar Songbook) [Paperback] Review

I've owned this book since it first came out, and it's a must for any true fan of the film. It includes some pictures from the movie as well as the music and lyrics for "Carrying The Banner," "Santa Fe," "My Lovey Dovey Baby," "The World Will Know," "Seize The Day," "King of New York," "High Times, Hard Times," and "Once And For All." It's helped me with more than one performance, and I even used it to compose Newsies ringtones for my cell phone.
On the down side, there ARE a few typos - from small things like spelling Spot's last name "Conlan" to more important transgressions like the complete lack of one chorus of "Carrying The Banner." Still, I've always found it well worth the money.

This Disney song book is fun and easy to play.It's not a fake bookbut the songs are sort of shortened, which I didn't like very much.However, it's still a great book.There is a history of how they included musicinto the Disney movies and cartoons.There are even songs to the Disneyafternoon cartoons.There are a few full paged illustrations and each songtitle has a illustration next to it.I definitely recommend this book toDisney song lovers out there.
