Disney's Beauty and the Beast: The Broadway Musical (Easy Piano) [Paperback] Review

I love this music book.I received it as a gift years ago and the pages are falling out of the binding because I've played it on the piano so often!I fell in love with the show when it first came to town and I was so excited to see that the music in the book is exactly the same as on the soundtrack!

The piano music is challenging for those who want to play the original score. My favorites are "If I can't love her" and "The Transformation/Beauty and the Beast Reprise."I'm such a romantic and when I play the Transformation, I get goosebumps picturing Belle and the Beast coming together again! Also, I love the "Something There" song. That's probably my favorite!

The vocal selection is great too. This is a great buy if you love musicals and love Beauty and the Beast!

Encyclopedia of Chords for Guitar & Piano [Plastic Comb] Review

If you have even cursory experience with piano and guitar, and are trying to improve your skills in one of them, you absolutely need this book.I've played piano in the past (including significant time in grade school) and have recently been trying to pick up the guitar.I know many chords on the piano but have no idea how to play them on the guitar. This book is a visual guide to this transition: look up your piano chords, see your hand position on the keys, then the corresponding position on the guitar neck, fully annotated and complete with alternate positions. The book also includes progressions, movable chords, and alternate chord names in the back.

I'm extremely pleased with this book, and have already recommended it to friends who know both instruments. If you're one of these people, treat yourself to a great reference.

The Dreame and Weep You No More Sad Fountains (from Sense and Sensibility) (Piano/Vocal/Guitar Songbook) [Paperback] Review

I recently bought (and reviewed) Jane Austen's World which had some of the piano music for this film and three others. The Dreame was included there, and it sounded good. This transcription, is much, much better although it's not much more difficult. In fact, it may be a bit easier because it sounds so much fuller and it'smore interesting and enjoyable to play.

Weep You No More Sad Fountains is also arranged beautifully.I believe that this particular piece is not in print elsewhere, so this is the only version available.

I do not sing while playing. However, I do not agree with these other reviewers who state that the vocals are arranged too high.True, in Weep You No More Sad Fountains, there is one high B flat that can be difficult to reach, but the lowest note is the D right above Middle C.There is a wide vocal range in this song, but to get the high notes lower, one would have to lower the lower notes.Maybe the aspiring vocalist can sing the very few high notes in a harmonious lower note!

The Dreame has a couple of high F sharps, but most of the song is also much lower. The lowest note here is a Middle C.

The pieces here are for advanced beginners to advanced intermediate players.

I love this book, to me it was just enough of a challenge but not so much that by Christmas I could play them somewhat with ease, I had an intermediate book before this one and this was just a bit harder. Piano Concertos Nos. 1, 2 and 3 in Full Score [Sheet music] Review

The Rachmaninoff Piano Concertos are among the hardest ever written. This book does a good job of showing the composer's intentions. Its inclusion of the ossia version as well as the simplified version of the solo parthelps the reader to compare the two. Also, the orchestra parts are easilyread and well spaced. There is never too much or too little on one page. It is a great book for conductors, pianists, or anyone else who loves theRach concerti. This is a must have for any serious piano concerto fan!
